Prior to forming Matchstick, Josh advised creative agencies, studios, and freelancers through his own firm CreateLegal. Client-focused and detail-oriented, Josh is always looking for opportunities to help clients up their legal game.

In the community, Josh served on the Board of Directors for AIGA Portland, the professional association of design for six years. Josh advises App Camp for Girls, a nonprofit that inspires girls to explore their creativity through code. Josh also helped found and serves as a Director to Operation Pitch Invasion, a local 501(c)(3) that builds, restores, and maintains soccer fields and futsal courts in deserving communities.

Josh lives with his wife and two kids in Portland, Oregon. Outside the office, Josh is a boxer, a baker, and an avid supporter of the Portland Timbers and proud member of its supporter group, the Timbers Army. If you stand in the North End of Providence Park on match days, you might even hear him sing.

Prior to forming Matchstick with Josh, Gabe ran his own firm, Groundwork Legal, also focused on representation of the creators of digital products. Before Groundwork, Gabe worked as a partner and an associate at three different business-focused law firms in the Bay Area. Gabe has significant experience in both transactional and litigation matters, and prides himself on providing practical and efficient counsel.

During law school at the University of San Francisco, Gabe was an Extern to Justice Ming Chin of the California Supreme Court, a member of the USF Law Review, a Dean’s Scholar, and a recipient of the CALI Award for Excellence (formerly American Jurisprudence Award, and awarded to the top student in each course) in five different courses.

Gabe graduated from USF Law magna cum laude in 2003, and from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Political Science in 1999. Gabe is a Bay Area native who lives with his wife Holly and daughter Kate in Marin County, California, home to Star Wars and the Mountain Biking Hall of Fame. Gabe is an avid San Francisco Giants fan, a connoisseur of burritos, and an off-and-on endurance "athlete."

Prior to joining Matchstick, Jen worked at CreateLegal advising creative professionals from all disciplines. For over a decade Jen has helped her clients get their contracts and business dealings dialed-in so they can get back to their craft.

Jen earned a degree in English at Whitman and then volunteered with AmeriCorps. She attended Lewis and Clark Law School where she was a member of Environmental Law Review and on the Scholar’s List for several semesters. Jen currently lives in Portland, Oregon and volunteers with Girls on the Run, First Book Portland, and Everytown for Gun Safety.

When not meeting with clients or drafting contracts, you will find Jen running a few miles to train for her next race, making a mess in the kitchen with her culinary-inclined son, or off the grid hiking in the mountains with her family (and avoiding the news)
